CHILDREN
SEEK EMERGENCY CARE EACH YEAR
Children have unique physiological and developmental characteristics,
making them particularly vulnerable in emergencies, disasters, and
global health threats. Too often, though, disaster preparedness and
response efforts overlook children’s needs.
The solution: A collaborative approach, led by children’s hospitals.
The Pediatric Pandemic Network was established to address those gaps.
Through PPN, children’s hospitals serve as regional hubs for
improving care for all children in pandemics, disasters, and every day.
PPN’s hospitals work with regional and national programs, academic
institutions, community organizations, and individual experts to share
pediatric-related information, educational resources, and best
practices.
